The most recent Indiana Jones film more than recouped its big budget with an estimated $311 million in global box office sales through the long weekend, according to studio estimates Monday.
Families went in droves to catch “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,” a PG-13 adventure starring Harrison Ford as the whip-cracking archaeologist who took 19 years to return to the big screen.
Paramount Pictures estimated the action sequel made $151.1 million in the U.S. and Canada from Thursday to the holiday Monday and $160 million overseas.
It marked the second biggest Memorial Day weekend opening ever, behind only “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End,” which made $153 million domestically from Thursday to Monday last year. Read the rest of this entry»
‘Indiana Jones’ unearths $126M in box office gold

Indiana Jones unearthed box office gold at domestic theaters with a performance that puts the film on track to become the second biggest Memorial Day movie opening ever, according to studio estimates Sunday.
The fourth installment of the whip-cracking professor’s exploits, “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,” grossed an estimated $101 million from Friday to Sunday, plus $25 million from its opening Thursday, distributor Paramount Pictures said. The company expects it to earn another $25 million on Monday.
That would put it behind only “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End,” which had a Friday-through-Monday total of $139.8 million, in the pantheon of Memorial Day weekend blockbusters.
Including Thursday’s receipts, “Indiana Jones” was expected to collect $151 million over five days, slightly behind “Pirates,” which took in $153 million with a partial Thursday included. Read the rest of this entry»
‘Indiana Jones’ earns $56 million in first 2 days

He may be older, but Indiana Jones is still finding box office treasure. Paramount’s “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,” the fourth film in the action-adventure series starring Harrison Ford, earned $56 million in its first two days, Media By Numbers president Paul Dergarabedian said.
After earning $25 million in its Thursday debut, the Steven Spielberg-directed movie brought in another $31 million Friday.
“These are very solid numbers, no question about it. The fact that earnings went up on the second day is a good sign,” Dergarabedian said. “Whether it’s on pace to beat “Pirates’” numbers from last Memorial Day remains to be seen.”
Last year, “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” set the record for a Memorial Day weekend opening, earning $153 million including Thursday night preview grosses. Read the rest of this entry»
Shia LaBeouf Trying to Evict His Dad
Posted by admin on May 21st, 2008 | Comments (0)
Shia LaBeouf is having a hard time evicting his dad from his garage. Shia’s father Jeffrey, who is a Vietnam veteran, usually spends his summers in a teepe in Montana and the winters in LA with Shia. Well winter was over months ago and Shia is getting annoyed by his father overstaying his welcome.
Shia says, “We’ve got this little air mattress set up for him. It’s very comfortable. But now it’s not winter anymore and he’s still there. But I can’t go there and go, `Hey dad. Listen it’s time to go back.’ I can’t make him leave.”
He can’t tell his father to leave but he can embarrass him by telling the entire world about it instead? Happy early fathers day Jeffrey.

“KOTCS” Gets 3 1/2 Minute Standing Ovation

Cannes obviously has a jones for “Indiana.”
The Sunday night premiere of “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” met with a 3½-minute standing ovation — nowhere near a festival record, but a reaction of respect, appreciation for the film’s craftsmanship and its nostalgic sensibility and style.
Paramount’s gamble in bringing the film here seems to have paid off and the pic avoided what has become known as “the ‘Da Vinci’ syndrome.”
The mood — a cross between goodwill and acceptance of the pic’s inevitable success — began Sunday afternoon at the press screening, as jaded media members whooped when the lights dimmed. Later, reporters asked fawning questions at the press conference and hundreds of onlookers began gathering early in the day in front of the Palais, eventually creating an enthusiastic gridlock that far surpassed the energy of any event so far during the 61st festival. Shia LaBeouf Reveals Angelina Jolie Crush
Posted by admin on May 18th, 2008 | Comments (2)
Earlier this week, in an interview with GQ magazine’s June issue, Shia LaBeouf revealed he’s fallen in love with all of his female co-stars, at least during the filming process. Earlier today, however, he told Access he has a super crush on a leading lady he has yet to star with: Angelina Jolie.
“What would you do if you starred in a movie with Angelina Jolie and you had to make out with her?” Access Hollywood’s Maria Menounos asked Shia.
“I would lose my mind,” the “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” star gushed.
However, Shia said there would be one draw back to partnering on screen with Angelina — after the make out, she’d go home to someone else. Click here to watch the video. Read the rest of this entry»
‘Indiana Jones’ goes before Cannes critics

Indiana Jones has been in tight spots before, but he faced one of the biggest hazards of his life as hostile hordes of critics at the Cannes Film Festival prepared to dissect his latest big-screen adventure Sunday.
A thumbs-up or thumbs-down from Cannes will not undermine the blockbuster prospects when “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” opens in theaters worldwide Thursday.
Yet the film, reuniting director Steven Spielberg, executive producer George Lucas and star Harrison Ford, could go down as another critical casualty of Cannes, whose fierce press corps stood ready to bury Indy if the flick failed to live up to the colossal hype preceding its release. Lucas: ‘Indy 5′ a Possibility

George Lucas tells me it’s more than a strong possibility there will be a fifth “Indiana Jones.” He says that he and director Steven Spielberg have left the door open for a sequel to “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.”
Lucas, looking dandy with slicked-back gray and white hair in a snappy tuxedo, was a guest Thursday night at Paramount/DreamWorks’s party for “Kung Fu Panda” at the 61st Cannes Film Festival.
The swell event was set up on the pier across from the Carlton Hotel, where the studio spared no expense recreating sets and treating guests to haute Chinese cuisine. There was even one of the 40 pandas from the publicity stunt the day before, dancing in the crowd to Carl Carlton’s old hit “Kung Fu Fighting.”
Lucas had a lot to say about the new “Indy” and its future.
“I haven’t even told Steven or Harrison this,” he said. “But I have an idea to make Shia [LeBeouf] the lead character next time and have Harrison [Ford] come back like Sean Connery did in the last movie. I can see it working out. Read the rest of this entry»

Shia LaBeouf has revealed that his friends constantly sang ‘Umbrella’ to him when he was rumoured to be dating Rihanna.
LaBeouf was spotted having dinner with the singer last August, sparking speculation that they were an item.
Despite denying reports of a romance, the Transformers star admitted that his pals took pleasure in teasing him with their renditions of her biggest hit.
He told GQ: “My friends were like, ‘Are you serious, bro? Why didn’t you tell me about that?’ I was like, ‘I really don’t know her like that.’ Read the rest of this entry»
